Rains seem to be on their way back. There are short showers, but the sky is mostly gloomy. The turn in temperature can be felt, and it's on the incline again.
CHARACTER OF THE MONTH
Heavy clouds linger over the valley and the tension is as thick as the promise of rain. The rogues have attacked again and this time, they stayed around. RC is now under control of NPC rogues. Check the lands out at your own risk.
The sound of the waves was like nothing Indira had ever heard before. An inevitable rhythm, one that sucked on the shoreline and dragged grains of sand back with it. There was a peace to it, a soothing sound that she found she quite liked. She hadn't known it would sound like this, when she'd spied the coast from above so long ago. When she'd stood up on those mountain slopes and looked down at the lands, the edges had drawn her gaze and now it was time to explore it. There was an even better reason to want to explore it now - Indira had invited @Neptune to join her on an adventure. Since she'd followed the rosy child out of the Plateau and carefully watched over her, it seemed as though she was a child with an adventurous heart.
Indira had invited the girl to join her and was mightily glad she had. The child injected happiness and it was easy to let go of worries or plans, to simply frolic in the plains grasses and push through the woodlands to reach the sea at the other side. Indira had no desire to get herself wet, but the sea foam splashed about her snowy toes and she gave a gentle laugh at the feeling of bubbles breaking against her skin.
Neptune had honestly been ecstatic at the idea of an adventure, especially with Indi who she had quickly decided she liked just as much as Gottfried. With the boundless energy of youth, Tunie had been eagerly sprinting in and out of the various grasses, trees and interesting rocks that needed smelling and/or thoroughly inspecting as they had trekked toward the beach. She'd been pestering with eager "are we there yets" for at least the last five minutes.
When they reached the sand, and Tunie saw the rush of the bubbly sea up onto it, she had squealed her excitement. The girl had no qualms about getting wet - she sprinting to pounce into the shallow surf with a courageous mewl, sending droplets everywhere. Her rose fur was quickly spiked with the saltwater. "Looook! Indi d'ya see!! Look look!" she called, shaking water out of her ears and pausing to peer at the masked lioness; "S' so much wor-ta!"
@Neptune's youthful excitement was infectious and Indira took a moment to let it wash over her. It took a certain mindset to become playful and the black hooded woman took several breaths of salty air as the girl charged towards the surf. It was a wonderful thing to see and after just a moment, Indira let out a belly laugh and crouched, trying to catch some of the bubbles in her mouth. It didn't take too long to get the taste of the salt water on her tongue. "I see Tunie, I see." She placated the young child, grinning a deep toothy smile at the rosy girl as she darted back from a particularly big wave. "Can you jump the waves?" She called, poking a white paw at the gentle waves breaking on the shoreline. It was a quiet, restful kind of sound and the woman felt it seeping into her bones.
Satisfied @Indira could indeed see what she was pointing out, Neptune pranced on the wet sand, enjoying the way it left behind shallow prints that quickly filled with water and were washed away by the slow rhythm of the tide.
Pink eyes flick to Indi as she questions, and Tunie nods enthusiastically. "Yeah!" she says immediately, not wanting to let her down and turns to the shallow, oncoming wave. But she doesn't really have the coordination to jump over it, and instead it crashes over her chest and muzzle before she can even begin to hop! "Bleeh!" she splutters and spits out salty water, "Slow down!" she tells off the water and scowls as it rushes disobediently over her toes. She leaps back and turns to Indi, "How d's I gettit?" she whinges. If it wouldn't stay still, how could she hop it?
@Neptune was enthusiastic about the suggestion - a little too enthusiastic it appeared. The young girl bounced towards the waves without much thought, as was normal for a young cub with no experience to do. There was a cyclical rhythm to the waves, something that Indira could see but that which Neptune likely wouldn't have picked up on. As a wave slapped the girl in the chest, Indira gave a soft laugh and stepped forward to scoop the girl away from the water for a moment. Her question was met with an indulgent smile from the guardian, who gave the top of the girls head a soft kiss. "You've got to watch the waves Tunie. They run up the shore and then retreat again."
She pointed out, poking a snowy toe towards the swell as it came up the beach. It wasn't very big, but the crash was enough to cause bubbles none the less. "If you time it right, you can jump over the waves just before they crash." Indira explained, having timed her explanation with enough foresight to be able to demonstrate exactly what she meant. As she'd been talking, she'd spotted a wave that would crash not long after she'd finish speaking. With a neat, elegant hop, the snowy woman jumped the wave and landed just as it crashed in front of her.
@Indira scoops her up away from the waves, which is reassuring because if one more had touched her at that moment it would have been declared a big meanie. A damning sentence. But her dark-masked guardian utters words of explanation and it begins to make a little more sense to the rosy-hued cub. Pink eyes narrow in deep concentration.
Now that she was looking, there did seem to a pattern. Still uncertain, it all clicks into place as she watches Indira's demonstration. "Oh!" she pipes up, "I geddit! Lemme try!" uncertainty melts away like the foam into the sand and Neptune steps up with renewed confidence.
The next wave that rolls up, she crouches and nearly makes it - she jumps too early and splashes down onto it, wetting her belly. But it's an improvement; she looks to Indi with wide eyes, hanging on for more encouragement.
Her enthusiasm was infectious, eliciting an easy grin from the healer. It was refreshing, especially for one who had had a busy few months since her arrival in the lands of Valoria, to spend a bit of time with someone so fresh and new to the world. @Neptune was ready to take on the challenge again and Indira stayed where she was, watching the girl watch the waves. It seemed to her that the girls jump was a bit premature - and she was right as Tunie landed on the breaking wave instead of over it. Indira gave her a toothy grin, an encouraging nod of her head given. "Well done Tunie - try again." She encouraged, before feeling the need to do the exact same thing herself. With a hop of her body, Indira neatly jumped over a small wave breaking on the shore. Of course, she landed in the water on the other side none the less, but the pull of the current over her toes made her chuckle.
The reassurance from @Indira is just what she had been hoping for, and Neptune finds it within herself to try again, feeling even more confident. Surely, she almost had it? She watches Indira leap the next incoming strike of surf, and bolsters herself to follow suit. It would be easier once she grew, Tunie hoped.
With a frown of concentration, she crouches down, waiting the next wave. As it rolls toward her with cresting bubbles, she leaps- and this time clears it! A squeak of triumph parts her jaws and Tunie turns to Indira with a gleeful look. "I did it!" she cheers, splashing in the receding water. How wonderful! She wanted to do it again!
